What does a live-in carer do?
We provide care for people across the UK. Applying for a live-in carer job requires you to be willing to travel nationwide to live with and care for your client in their home for 2-6 weeks at a time.
You will be there to help our clients live fulfilling lives in their own homes by assisting with specialist conditions, supporting moving and handling, delivering medication and providing personal care. Other responsibilities include enabling clients to enjoy social activities, light household duties, grocery shopping and planning and preparation of meals.
Of course, providing companionship is also an essential part of any carer’s role, offering connection and support has many positive benefits to the physical and mental wellbeing of our clients. Having a day out, playing a game of cards, watching television together or a cup of tea and a chat are small things that mean so much to our clients and are all part of the job of a live-in carer. We work hard to select our carers and clients for compatibility to ensure you can build a good rapport and enjoy one another’s company.
A typical day would include:
- Helping your client get washed and dressed in the morning
- Providing mobility support and encouraging movement and exercise.
- Light household duties to maintain a clean and comfortable home.
- Making their favourite dinner and enjoying it together
